CVA Disaster Relief Team Responds to Arkansas Tornado Victims

In the early pre-dawn morning of Monday, March 17th, a group of Castle Valley Academy students and staff members felt the call to drive to tornado-ravaged areas of Arkansas as volunteers in a disaster response team. Nine students and 3 staff organized on short notice to lend a hand wherever they can in the affected areas. Once they arrived, the Castle Valley team joined with local disaster relief efforts for duties such as distributing food, water, toiletries and other necessities in hard hit locations. Students felt called to help, even spending part of their Spring Break to help lift the spirits of people who have lost everything.

Castle Valley Academy’s team first responded in January to the Los Angeles fires, spending 5 days volunteering with churches and Red Cross centers distributing aid and listening to victims of the fires tell their stories. Students also prayed and sang to encourage people during the crisis.

The Castle Valley Academy Disaster Response Team is an ongoing cooperative effort with Gideon Rescue Company, an international disaster relief organization.

Castle Valley Academy President, Randy Ward states, “Our desire is to train our students for service. The opportunities to serve in a disaster situation are tremendous. The students are able to see God’s mighty hand at work. Being a part of that experience can be life changing, not only for the people they serve, but also for the students."
